Have just been advised that I've won 3 awards in the prestigious "Maurice Ravel International Composition Competition" sponsored by the Ravel Association of Bergamo and Novara, Italy. It's one of the largest competitions of its type attracting well over 1,000 entries in 6 different categories, from composers all over the world.
The first round of the competition is the National Awards. These are presented to the best entry from each nation. Winners automatically advance to the semi-finals. In all, there are over 540 semi-finalists in the 6 categories - the field is huge!
My winning entries are:
- "The Lady" - Category B, composition for Chamber Orchestra.
- "The Hunt" - Category E, "The Maurice Ravel Prize".
- "Eulogy" - Category F, "World Peace Prize".
I've posted the winning pieces on my Music page. "The Lady" is on my first album, "The Jervis Bay Symphonic Suite". The other pieces will be released on my next album .... due out shortly!
